iTouch...discounts...VOIP...and more?

Okay, so a ton has happened since the release of the iPhone. Let's review for a moment:

1. iPhone released

2. some really cool apps released

3. new macs released

4. more cool apps for iPhone

5. New IPODS including iTouch ** announced/released

6. Price discounts for iPhone

7. Refund for Angry customers (I don't agree with this one). If you wanted it, you wanted to be first, you stood in line you got the phone, deal with it. Apple has set a bad precedent for every future product release with this. HEY I BOUGHT MY MAC 4 months ago and you dropped the prices, where's my refund! I can see it now. Let's not do that again.

But the really exciting thing is iTouch. WHY? Because it's an iPOD, it Plays VIDEO and MUSIC and has a WIDESCREEN and it's GOT WI-FI built in.

Oh...what do phones and networks have in common? In some cases you can use a phone on a network and that performs this little thing known as VOIP!!!

So what would it take for an iTouch to do VOIP and pretty much make cellphones obsolete? A little software...maybe a firmware update (unless it's already got the info in firmware...)

My mind is spinning here a little but, I think this could be trouble for everyone including AT&T.

Steve...I think you got a winner here. Christmas might be pretty bright for Apple and not from just sales of the iPods.

What does it take for an iTouch to use SKYPE or YAHOO's IM phone service? It's got web browsing built-in, it's got 802.11 b/g built in...it then has an IP address...it's got a touch screen which an app could be built for...does it have a microphone hidden in there somewhere?...

More later on.

Mike
